Windows 7 Mbsa

Two technical questions about my PC., Could be related to each other or maybe not. Basically …?

the computer will not (always) totally off …. or restart, it gets to a point "Windows is shutting down" … I have to shut it down manually. 2nd question, I have winxp svc.pk2, IE Explorer 7, there is a security update I have downloaded … and have been prompted to install several times …. just get a simple error saying the following updates were not installed: Security Update for IE 7 for winxp. I read everything about this update in Knowledge and it seems that this was a big problem … very important update … I'm having difficulty understanding the technical language there … I want to make sure I get this update installed. Oh, actually I have another question:) downloaded MBSA, its not scan my pc and tell you why your computer (by name or IP address) can not be found? what the heck? the program is on the computer … how can this make sense?

First of all, every time you shut down manually, this is a bad thing for your computer. You probably already have some volume bad sector or lost dll now. Go to the Run box on the Start menu and type: sfc / scannow This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it considered a problem.
