To add a Flash button for your page, place the cursor where a flash should be inserted and select the media. From the drop-down menu, select Flash Button. Dreamweaver 8 will open the dialog box Insert Flash Button. The dialog box functions as an assistant to create a button.

Choose style from the list. Scroll to see additional options. You can view a sample of different styles in the sample window on the top of the dialog box. In addition, you can hover your mouse over the sample to see the mouse over the actions are built on the.

In the text box, type the text you want the button to display. Select the font and size for the button text using the dropdown menu provided.

If the button is associated with a URL, add URL in the Link. You do not need to put the "http:// name" in front of the URL. For related buttons, choose a destination from the dropdown menu.

Identify the background color. Ideally, this will be the same color as the page where the button will appear.

Dreamweaver 8 will create a SWF file to accompany the button that you created. This SWF file is required on the Web server that hosts the content, so be sure to download it when the page is complete.

When you finish creating your button, click Apply to view the button in Design view. Once in Design view, you can edit the button, as needed. Test it using the Play button in the Properties pane.
