Windows 7 Lenovo S10
Which netbook under $280 should I get?
I am looking to get a netbook between $250-$280. I was told by a friend to get the Lenovo s10. My dad found HP mini 110s refurbished. What about an Asus EEE or even something else? And what about ones with Windows XP versus Windows 7 starter? I have been looking at tigerdirect and other places, but I am getting very overwhelmed looking at specs. Price is more important, but I want to get the most for my money.
You must realize that with your netbook you are not getting a laptop. It will be able to use the Internet and Microsoft office well. And possibly some music. But, I wouldn't expect too much. On my netbook I can't even use Hulu. The video card is too weak. You also can't upgrade a netbook so don't fear spending a few extra dollars for more ram/better video card. More vRAM = better video card.
However, I knew what I was buying and I absolutely love my MSI netbook. I have windows xp on it with the office 2010 beta and it runs very smoothly with great battery life (3 hours).
The most important things to look for is to have atleast 1gb ram, atleast 100 gig hard drive, built in speakers, more than 1 usb port, battery life over 2 hours, and a FULL SIZE KEYBOARD**** (this is a must unless you want it to feel like your typing on a cell phone).
I wouldn't recommend windows 7 because most netbooks don't have enough RAM to run it smoothly. And it definitely doesn't have a powerful enough video card to reach the potential of what windows 7 does. All in all windows 7 for a netbook is a little overkill. It's like putting a turbo in a minivan. So in my opinion get more computer with windows xp over the "free" windows 7 upgrade.
